I love writing. And I love talking about writing. Bringing people together to learn and to share is what gets me up in the morning. I mentor emerging writers, lead workshops for writers of all ages and work with literary and creative organisations facilitating and chairing events.
I’ve worked as an associate lecturer in creative writing with the Open University and as a mentor for young people with TICE. I also founded and led the Northern Writers Studio, programming events to bring people together online for three years. I currently work for Hexham Book Festival as the Youth Engagement Manager.
In my writing practice, I write short stories, and scripts for stage, TV and radio. I’m interested in telling stories about how people live and how they interact with place and change. My current projects explore climate change, rural working class stories and child-free women.

Your Writing Life – Mentoring
My work with writers focuses on building a sustainable writing practice and a writing life. I offer one to one sessions to explore where writers are, where they want to be and help them make a plan to get there. I can also offer advice on funding applications, project plans and career planning.
I am opening my books to new mentees in January 2026.
